What is the inspiration behind the menu at Sushi Koo?

The omega-3 fatty acids in fish are linked to heart protection and improved circulation. Scientists believe this is one of the reasons why the Japanese are among the healthiest people in the world. Our menu is designed to make sushi fast and fresh so that our customers can have a healthy lunch or dinner in less than 10 minutes.

What are your most popular dishes?

Our most popular dishes are the Spicy Dynamite Roll (spicy tuna with spicy mayo baked on top), the Firecracker Roll (shrimp tempura and avocado topped with spicy tuna and jalapeño), the Volcano Roll (deep fried spicy tuna with baked salmon and deep fried onion on top) and the Spicy Yellowtail Roll.

Do you have a recipe we can share with readers at home?

What are some hot food trends you’re seeing in Los Angeles?

We’ve noticed that healthy vegan cooking has become really popular in Los Angeles over the last few years. This has inspired us to add more vegetarian sushi, rolls, and salads to our menu.

Can you share any plans for Sushi Koo in 2017?

Aside from creating more vegetarian dishes, we plan to offer sushi burritos and bowls featuring vegetables and fresh fish, as well as kid-friendly fruit sushi.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

People tend to think of sushi as expensive. This is often true, but it’s not always the case. At Sushi Koo, serving up the best quality sushi for a great price is and always has been our goal. Just because sushi is affordable doesn’t mean it isn’t high quality. We strive to provide our customers with consistently fresh and tasty sushi at an incredible value – that’s what we’re all about.
